U14s win against Muskerry.

Old Christians RFC 24 - 5 Muskerry RFC

Our u14s had their 3rd game of the phase 1 league on Saturday against Muskerry. Both teams began the game in determined fashion, and it was made clear from the off, that yards would not be given up easily by either team. Some ferocious tackling from both teams in what was an arm wrestle for the first 10 mins.

Eventually, Old Christians turned the screw and after some great work by the pack, the ball was moved out wide and Elliot was on hand to finish off a great move. Kayden converted from a difficult angle. After some strong play from the restart, we moved the ball up the pitch and again moving the ball out wide, found Fionn in space to finish an excellent team try.

We were to go over again before half time, and again there was multiple carries from the team to get the ball into the Muskerry 5. A superb pick and finish from Odhran put the lads 17 up going into half time.

It was important to start the 2nd half strong and the lads put Muskerry under a lot of pressure from the get go, turning the ball over and then through multi phases got the ball into the Muskerry 5. After a couple of phases more Oisin took the pass and powered his way over on the left side of the posts. Kayden converted to give a 24 point lead. All credit to Muskerry because they never left their heads drop and came battling back into the game with a great try of their own down the left touch line.

With that try, their tails were up and they really put it up to our lads. Despite a lot of replacements and moving about of players, the lads settled and battled back themselves. Again a fierce battle was fought in the middle third with both teams going back and forth at each other. We were unlucky not to go over again with 5 mins to go, when a try was ruled out due to a double movement. The lads kept the pressure on by finishing the game in the opposition half and when the ref blew the final whistle it was a well deserved win for our lads.
