South Munster Cup Final
Old Christian's  26
Sunday's Well   19

Our u18½ collected the South Munster Cup,for the 1st time since,by all accounts 1981,

last Saturday at the UCC Sports Ground in Curraheen making them the best u18½ side in Cork this season.

Our second meeting with the Well after a narrow 2 pt loss during the season we knew we could reverse that result.
Our previous 2 games we shipped 74 points, but that only because we only played for the second half of both games, scoring 78 in reply.

We knew, that not been switched on from the warm up,we can't rely on out scoring the opposition all the time.

On Saturday we were at it from the start giving them nothing and had them under pressure constantly only their great defence and a little of us rushing our plays kept it even till Darragh C with a brilliant off load for Sammy to run in under the sticks for the 7.

Then what was the 1st of,we think, record number of yellow cards during a youth rugby game 4 was shown, giving The Well a boost of confidence that resulted in a try eventually given by  the touch judge and a great kick from their 10 leveled it 7all.

Got our yellow back up to 15 and held them comfortably till half  time.
Much the same for the second half
on top, another yellow and another try  the 1st of Aaron's 2 trys with 14 men.
It's a credit to the team and panel effort with Brian working his way through their line out maul to get the turnover when we were under pressure and the ferocious defence led by Ben and Darragh and whole team that we scored 4 trys and 3 scored with 14 men Ben F getting the 4th, and he could have had another put chose to pass ,ultimate team player, but being pulled for a debatable forward pass,to no reply from the Well since their opening score.
All the  subs that came in for injured players and tactical switches because of the yellow cards did brilliantly with Conor D and Rhys and Callum  outstanding when coming on.
As said before a maybe a worlds record number of yellow cards for a under age game, 2 of which were by arguably the smaller lads on the team, the amount of time played over the 30 would nearly qualify for another look from the lads from the world's record books 8 mins where he got that from only he knows, but with the exersion of playing ½ the game with 14 men, they came back into with a unconverted try but our defence held tight and ran down the clock to make it more difficult for them to score the 2 converted trys to level.
They got 1 back at the end but we always had the bonus of scoring first it they had got another to level.
But they weren't given any more chances and finally the ref blew up and the celebrations began.
Big thanks to the coaches past and present as this was a win 12 years in the making with Pete and Ciaran and Cormac starting at 6/7 years of age then Mattie, Mossy,Mick,Sean and Cormac taking them through 2 years of  u16 and Barry there when we progressed to u18½
A Development Plate last year in Munster and Saturday's great win a good return for 2 seasons at this age group.
Coaches can only coach if the players want to be there and they were we have big numbers all the time at training and games and credit for that has to the players but especially the parents as with out you getting them up to training and the big away trips like Dingle etc we don't get days like last Saturday.
Big turnaround of players next season but a strong core of what won Saturday will still be there, to help and guide a very good 16 team to transition to u18½ and it not as big a jump as you might think.
So last report for the season and last youth game for a number of players ye were a great bunch of lads and all the best at u20/J3
