I imagine that Nika Amashukeli would have been amazed, 10 years ago, if anyone had predicted that in 2023 he would ref his first RWC match and it would involve Ireland.
In 2013 he arrived aged 18 (!) on a ref-swapping programme and his first appointment was to ref Old Christians and St Mary’s in the Munster Junior League (all according to Wikipedia).
